Facts About the Cavapoo and Cavoodle!

December 28th, 2018 by Laura

It’s pretty common knowledge that the Cavoodle (Cavapoo) is an incredibly popular dog breed in Australia.

But why are these dogs so popular? The answer is simpler than you think!

Cavoodles, also known as Cavapoos, are a smaller breed of dog, bred between a Poodle and a King Charles Spaniel. These parents give the Cavoodle a great mix of genes to work with, and often favor a gentle temperament and a low-maintenance coat.

The Cavoodle tends to stay on the smaller side too, usually remaining under 20 pounds (9-10kgs).

With these traits in mind, it’s no wonder why the Cavoodle is one of Australia’s most popular dog breeds.

Cavoodles Have A Great Temperament

Cavoodles are well known for being incredibly loyal and loving dogs. They are also very gentle dogs, which makes them great for families with small children.

This gentle behaviour is part of what makes Cavoodles such a treat to own. They’re docile, and very well suited for life within the home.

They’re also very low maintenance when it comes to exercise, but you should still walk them regularly!

Cavoodles are highly intelligent dogs that aim to please. Their mental well-being is easy to take care of, and serves as a bonding activity for you and your dog.

Training your Cavoodle is also the best way to ensure you have a well behaved dog into adulthood. Because of their intelligence and training capacity, many owners like them as therapy dogs.

Small Dogs Make Great Family Pets

The Cavapoo is a very small dog, which adds to their cuteness. Their size makes them ideal for life around the house. Whether it’s on the couch or on the bed, Cavoodles are the perfect size for anywhere in the home.

With that being said, Cavoodles should be kept indoors regardless of their size. Cavapoos have a short snout, which leaves them susceptible to infections and heatstroke.

You also form a stronger bond with your Cavoodle by keeping them inside.

Training, playing, and just being in the same room is very healthy for your puppy. Cavoodles want to be near you, which also adds to their appeal.

Cavapoos are Low Maintenance Dogs

The cross with a Poodle means their coat is less likely to shed, and it is much easier to manage.

While there are long haired breeds of Cavoodles, the general consensus is that these dogs don’t need much in the way of coat maintenance.

A brush and a bath once in a while is all it takes to keep your Cavoodle happy.

Allergy sufferers may be able to tolerate the coat of the Cavapoo due to their genetics.
Before purchasing a Cavoodle, you should make sure you can tolerate their coat.

The Cavapoo is one of the best dogs in Australia

Cavoodles are perfect family dogs, and feature an ideal temperament not found in most breeds today. Their coat is nice and easy to take care of, and their mental and physical needs are quite minimal.

It’s no wonder that the Cavoodle is one of Australia’s most popular dogs!
