The best dog parks are often the ones that get overlooked, but they are well worth knowing about. If you live around Canberra, there are some fantastic ones dotted throughout the ACT.
Off-lead rules can vary between parks, so check the signage on arrival.
Lake Ginninderra Dog Park
This is one of the best dog parks around Canberra. With good facilities and plenty of space to let your dog roam, it is a great spot for a long walk, and there are benches and tables if you fancy a family outing. Best of all are the many other dogs that come here. It is off-lead too, so your Cavoodle can run free, chase a ball or a disc, or just wander around.
Weston Park
Weston Park is a phenomenal place to spend the day, with lovely trees and picturesque scenery. Clear trails make walking and biking easy, and there are benches to sit on. You might even spot a kangaroo, more likely in the morning than the afternoon, though they have been known to turn up at any hour.
Palmerville Heritage Park
Palmerville is a great park for a walk, with several trails that make it easy going. There are usually plenty of other dogs about, so it is a good spot for your Cavoodle to socialise. Bring your own dog bags and you will be set. As with any park, there are rules and etiquette worth following.
Yarralumla Dog Park
This fenced dog park is perfect for a Cavoodle, with plenty of shady trees, benches and well maintained paths. There is usually plenty of parking even at peak times, so you can spend your visit walking your dog rather than hunting for a spot.
Lake Tuggeranong District Park
This smaller park is great for a family outing, a barbecue or just a stroll. Lots of grassy areas make it perfect for walking your dog, the paths are easy going, and there are benches and tables if you need a break. Walking is great for your Cavoodle's health, and it is worth getting them out at least once a day.
