Cavoodles are well known family dogs
A lot of Australians choose a Cavoodle because they suit family life so well. The Cavoodle temperament is a lovely one, especially in a home where someone is around a fair bit. They thrive on attention, so as long as they have company they are happy. That does not mean you can never leave them, but they would much rather be with you.
Gentle even with small children
If you have young kids, a Cavoodle is a great choice. They are small enough that they will not knock a child over, and their gentle nature makes them lovely playmates right through their life. That goes double if you have a few little ones, because a Cavoodle tends to treat the whole family like its litter and plays along happily.
They love to learn
Cavoodles are quick learners, which makes teaching them new tricks a pleasure. They love to please and will do just about anything to keep you happy. A lot of that comes from the Poodle in them, and their calm, attentive nature makes training easier again.
They get their gentle side from their parents
Cavoodles are bred from a Poodle and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Poodles are known for being clever, which is where the Cavoodle’s brains come from. Cavaliers are loving, gentle dogs, and that is where the softer side comes in. Together those two breeds make one of the sweetest, most affectionate dogs a home could ask for.

If you ever needed a reason to get a Cavoodle, it is simply that they are one of the kindest dogs you can own. They are great to train, endlessly affectionate, and easy to keep happy. Brushing, bathing and walking are about the most demanding jobs on the list, and that is no more than any other dog asks. Better still, your Cavoodle will adore you for the attention.
Training still matters
Even a sweet dog needs training. Without it, a Cavoodle can pick up bad habits, so it pays to keep an eye on their behaviour and gently head off anything you would rather they did not do, like nuisance barking. The good news is that Cavoodles are so eager to please that training these things out of them is usually straightforward.
