A true paradise for nature lovers, Tasmania is home to some stunning beaches, and plenty of them are great for dog owners who want to bring their pooch along.
If you and your Cavoodle are planning a beach day, here are some of the best dog-friendly beaches in Tasmania. Rules change with the seasons, so always check the local signage on arrival.
Mayfield Beach
Set in the lovely Mayfield Bay Coastal Reserve on the east coast, Mayfield Beach is perfect for dogs and people alike. There is a campsite where you can stay the night and make a proper day of it with your Cavoodle by your side. Whether you want to burn off some energy playing on the sand or just laze in the sun, Mayfield is a great destination.
Sisters Beach
For a swim or a wander among the wildlife, Sisters Beach is a lovely spot, with turquoise water, white sand and several dog-designated areas. Dogs are allowed off-lead year round on the exercise beach, with some restrictions over summer on the section between Stockdale Avenue and Honeysuckle Avenue.
Cosy Corner
Cosy Corner is exactly that, cosy. Tucked into the beautiful Bay of Fires, this long stretch of sand makes for some fantastic summer memories. Dogs are welcome along the whole beach, so your Cavoodle has plenty of room to run and swim, and the nearby camping areas let you stay a little longer. It is popular with dog owners, so your pup will have plenty of friends to play with.
Kingston Beach
One of the most popular beaches in Tasmania, Kingston caters to dogs too, with separate areas for on and off-lead walking. You will find water bowls, poo bags and bins on hand. Just south of Hobart, it is great for a jog or a walk and a lovely place for your Cavoodle to socialise with the many other dogs about.
Turners Beach
The lovely Turners Beach is a favourite with swimmers and surfers. The tide can run strong, but when the sea is calm and the wind is only a breeze it becomes a real dog paradise, with long stretches of sand for your best mate to run free. You can also take the path up to the nearby lighthouse for great views. Note that over summer, dogs are on-lead only at Turners.
